Are You Listening to Your Vibes?

In order to heighten awareness, receive inspiration and get connected to our purpose, we must pay attention to our vibes. This means listening to our intuition, which is defined as “to pay attention” or “to notice.” Our intuition guides us towards what best serves our growth. Choosing to pay attention to it makes for a more inspired life.

Here are some tips to “wake up” your intuition to help you get new ideas, make healthy choices for yourself, make the right connections or even heighten your hunches about what lies in the future:

Sleep – Adequate rest allows the ego and emotions to sleep and the spirit to wake up. If you are too busy, rushed and sleep deprived, you probably are thinking too much and not feeling, squeezing out your intuitive voice. If you are unsure about an important decision, “sleep on it.” Our dream states can give us clues and lead us to the right decisions.

Eat Healthy – Pay attention to how you feel when you eat. It’s pretty easy to notice the difference in how you feel when you eat natural, living, clean food vs. processed, packaged food which shuts your body down and makes you tired. Eating the right food will energize you, leaving room for your intuition and inspiration to come through.

Do Nothing – In our busy world, we must allow room for meditation and contemplation. Quieting the mind allows space for our inner guidance to emerge. Try meditating 20 minutes a day and see what inspirations show up! Try my favorite 20 minute meditations by Sonia Choquette. If you are “in your head” a lot, guided meditations can help you rest the mind and make room for your intuitive vibes.

Breathe – One deep breath can be a conscious meditation, heighten your awareness and reduce stress. Try this technique three times: take a slow, deep breathe through your nose and as you exhale gently through the mouth, make the sound “aaaahh.” Notice how your body releases stress every time you make the sound “aaaahh.” Want more? These guided meditations use the breath to help you fully relax and get in touch with your intuition.

Dreams – Make a point of paying attention to your dreams. They reveal emotional and spiritual messages, giving us clues to help sort out day-to-day complexities. Train yourself to remember & record them. Try this: before you go to bed, have a glass of water at your bedside table & take a sip of water. Then tell yourself, “I will remember my dreams the moment I wake up and I take a sip of this water.” Let me know what happens!

One of my favorite teachers on trusting your intuition and increasing your vibes is Sonia Choquette. Her book Trust Your Vibes is a great read on how to heighten your intuition. When you are in touch with your intuition you’ll be more confident, trust yourself more and stop 2nd guessing.

Food for thought:

Are you listening to what your dreams are telling you? Are you trusting your vibes when you sense something’s not right or you feel unsettled? Are you paying attention to the people with whom you interact (on errands or the deli counter) and striking up a conversation to see where it leads?
