Mama Gena Weekend Four
I just returned from my final mastery weekend with the Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts in New York City. The burlesque show was a success! It was fun to perform and be in my body in this new way. If you haven’t been following my discoveries you can still read about weekend one, two and three. I highly recommend the Mama Gena book as a gift to yourself, a sister, wife or your girlfriends to support them in manifesting more pleasure, having their desires and owning their power. I love Mama Gena’s message, the tools and structures she gives women to live with our inner lights turned on! If you are intrigued by her work, check out her video blog and July 1 announcement to take this work global.
Here is what I’m savoring from my final Mama Gena weekend:
Men’s Night – 100+ men came and shared what they love from women. It’s simple: Celebrate them with acknowledgment & appreciation. It feeds their spirits. Men love an empowered and loving woman. So, be the happy one, not the angry, bitchy one. Here’s a tool they can use when we are crabby; teach them to say, “I love it when you’re angry! You are gorgeous.” It’s an acknowledgment of what’s not being spoken, finds beauty in what is and lightens things up.
Surrendering – When it comes to love-making; surrender, relax, be present in your body and constantly communicate. Approve, acknowledge and receive. It will help you know your body better and will empower your lover to please you exactly the way you desire. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Your partner wants to know how to please you! Check out Vera and Steve Bodansky’s book for more…
Dr. Christiane Northrup – Watching Dr. Northup speaking to us and modeling joy and surrender as she stepped on the dance floor with her passion, Argentine tango, was beautiful. She has truly grown into her power the last ten years, speaking her truth, empowering women with her book Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom and now embodies pursuing her passions and living life from a place of pleasure. I recommend her weekly show on HayHouseRadio.com
Being Powerful is not Passive – it Requires Action – To live an empowered life, be intentional and practice. Mama Gena gives you tools and exercises in her book and workshops. I recommend these strategies for your daily, core foundation: Eat clean, exercise a little each day, start and end your day with gratitude, meditate or use guided meditations to quiet your mind, use conscious language to fuel possibility and positive emotions, have a way to discharge negative emotions (read about Spring Cleaning and Party with Your Inner Bitch in Mama Gena’s book) and interact with others around your goals (like-minded friends, a therapist or coach).
Joy is Intense – When you are growing and living more in your power as I am, it is intense to feel so good so much of the time. Up until now, it’s been unfamiliar for me to have long periods of joy. Now, as I experience it more often, I am much more conscious of when my old patterns creep in and I “think” something (usually doubt or self-criticism) or “do” something (such as overeat) to sabotage all the good feelings.
