Reinvention
I am proud to report that since my last newsletter where I wrote about Being Fearless, I have been courageous and fearless! I’m getting excited as I recall the memories!
In October I lead a four-week Burlesque class, and it was fantastic! I took some heat from a few women who thought what I was doing was wrong. I held my convictions and knew my heart was in the right place, with the intent of empowering women. I brag that eight women signed up! This is great for a first time offering. Thank you ladies for being brave and trying something so uncommon, and ‘out there’ on society’s edges. It was so pleasurable to have real discussions about what it means to be feminine. What’s OK, what’s not in our culture. It was inspiring to see the growth when these women learned to love what they have when they let their light shine!
At the end of October I attended an S Factor Retreat. This is sensual movement classes using a pole. Wow. Talk about empowering women. This is about reawakening the divine feminine energy that felt lost and forgotten in me. We live primarily in a masculine world, and this movement guides women back into their bodies where our intuition, wisdom and sensuality lives. The validation and vulnerability in this movement is so affirming and powerful. All I can say, is if you have an S Factor studio near you (LA, NYC, Chicago, San Fran and Houston), then run, don’t walk to get yourself there ladies. Their intro class will get you hooked.
I am nearing the end of a six-week Remarkable Women Teleseminar I offered, and it is so enjoyable! I so much look forward to these Tuesday evening calls. We have created connection and new friendships as we see how much we all have in common as women. I love how we have inspired each other with our stories, our desires and our commitment to action in the world. From this group I was motivated to create an online Remarkable Women Forum to keep the energy alive in between calls and have a place to record our desires. I may continue these teleseminars, so if you are interested in them and the online forum, let me know! Thank you so much to those women who pioneered this adventure with me.
In November, I attended the Mama Gena’s annual Miami Reunion. Talk about keeping desires alive, this was a desire intensive. It showed me again, the power of finding my like-minded tribe to support my reinvention. Who in your life is holding that space for you to play big? When we let go of those no longer in alignment with where we are going, we make way to be of service in the world. When we are on fire, contributing and creating, we truly are living out our purpose. I highly recommend her book as a holiday gift to yourself or to uplift one of your female friends.
So, as I’m in a reinvention phase, I thought I’d share what’s been working for me.
Seven Tips for Reinvention:
Be an “Owner” – When you are ready to reinvent yourself the first thing that usually needs a tune-up is your thinking. Shift to being an “owner” of your spirit rather than having a “victim” mindset. Owners choose their language carefully. Victims use words like “should” and “have to” and “try” and “struggle” and “crazy busy.” Owners use “can” and “will” and “exciting” and “enjoy” and “create” and “choose to.” The victim is “swamped” by all the things he/she has to do. The owner is “focused” on the tasks before him/her. I posted Steve Chandler’s audio for you entitled the Owner/Victim Choice and highly recommend a listen.
Explore and Gather Information – Don’t wait to “know” what’s next before you get started. People get stuck on the “how” and the “what” to do next. Get into action now, start exploring and gathering information. Each action you take will get you closer to crystallizing who you want to be. Think about what you can give, not what you can get – Try starting your day with a prayer – “God, how may I serve?” Ask for help and and make quiet time for inspiration to come through. This can help guide you to what’s next.
Hire a Coach or Have Reinvention Buddies – I’ve always had a coach since I became a coach, and I truly believe it has been a key element to my success. Whether it’s a coach or like-minded friends, we need others who know how to show confidence in our dreams. Get a coach. Create a reinvention group. Name your desires. Report each week what you’ve done and what you will do in the week ahead. Small steps lead to
big changes.
Recommended Reading for Reinvention – Reinventing Yourself and the audio I mentioned above, both by Steve Chandler will help you choose an empowering state of mind. If you have a small business or are starting one, two useful books are The Knack: How Street-Smart Entrepreneurs Learn to Handle Whatever Comes Up by Norm Brodsky and The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.
Eat Well and Exercise – I say this all the time and am passionate that these are two key pillars to our foundation for success. Eat clean: Greens, lean proteins, nuts, avocados, almond/peanut butter, salads, whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa and rye crackers. Keep your sugars grams under 30g per day to drop excess weight. Count your grams every day! Fruit, juices and milk sugars counts. Read labels. Limit carb servings to 2-3 per day and keep each serving to 20g carbs per serving or less. Watch your energy skyrocket and your bloat and bulge disappear! Move your body 30 minutes every day. Walking is great. Strength train 2-3x per week with this simple 10 Minute Workout routine.
Visualize your Reinvention – Even if you aren’t exactly sure what you are becoming, practice using NLP and create a picture in your mind. Visualize yourself at your best, how you show up, how you are creating and the desired emotional state you are feeling. Double the size of that picture in your mind. Visit this mental picture daily to fuel your determination and daily action steps.
